Chelsea are open to offers for N’Golo Kante among others
According to the Times, Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for star midfielder N’Golo Kante, with a number of other stars also available.
The Frenchman has been a key player for the club since moving from Leicester City in 2016. He has however endured an injury-hit campaign this time around that has seen him feature just 27 times.
The Blues showed plenty of promise but eventually fell short of silverware this season. More so, there currently exists a chasm between us and Liverpool/Manchester City at the top.
Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Frank Lampard has turned his attention to further reinforcements.
According to the report, the Blues boss is keen to add Kai Havertz, a new goalkeeper and a new left-back. With the club shopping at the high end of the market for top names, they are unlikely to come cheap.
Accordingly, some players will have to leave, potentially even Kante. At 29, the Frenchman’s injuries are frequent enough to be a cause of concern.
He only recently made the bench in the FA Cup final following another hamstring injury. He has so far made 169 appearances for Chelsea, bagging 11 goals and 7 assists.
Kante won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards in his first season at the club. 2019-20 marks the first campaign where he has gone trophyless in England.
The Frenchman is not the only player who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi and Kepa Arrizabalaga are all available for the right price. (h/t The Times)
Lampard is keen to overhaul his defence following an open season at the back. The likes of Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, Emerson Palmieri, and Marcos Alonso are also not safe, with the club open to offers. (h/t The Times)
