Timo Werner was in attendance as Chelsea secured Champions League qualification

According to the Daily Star, Timo Werner was in attendance at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

The Blues were in control and made easy work of what could have been a tricky fixture. It is a testament to Frank Lampard and his team’s mental strength that they could leave the reversal at Anfield behind them and rise to the occasion.

Goals from Mason Mount and the reborn Olivier Giroud ensured the Blues went into the break with a 2-0 lead. They never looked like relinquishing it and saw off Wolves to secure a top-four finish.

Unfortunately for us, United’s win took them above us to third place on goal difference. However, the team did their job and we will have to trump the ones above us next season.

The addition of Hakim Ziyech and Werner presents Lampard with genuine world-class options that can enliven an already impressive Chelsea attack.

Werner has not been in action since the Bundesliga ended last month. The German ace ended his stint at RB Leipzig by scoring both goals in the 2-1 win over Augsburg.

He will now join up with fellow summer signing Ziyech, who has already taken part in Chelsea training sessions. Looking on at his new teammates, the German will be pleased with his decision to join the club.

He could also see what it is like to succeed at the club when the boys take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley. Winning it will serve as a reminder of the glory he can achieve and the role he can play as the Blues look to get back to the top.

Interestingly, Werner’s post on Instagram stating that he was in London was liked by his national teammate Kai Havertz.

The Bayer Leverkusen ace is also a top target for the Blues, who are keen to bring him to the Bridge. Whether he joins his countryman at Chelsea remains to be seen.
