Chelsea step up pursuit of 23-year-old rising English star following another setback

Chelsea keen to bring in Dean Henderson to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga

According to the Express, Chelsea are set to ask Manchester United to name their price for goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 23-year-old has been in sensational form on loan at Sheffield United. He once again showed what he is capable, as he kept a clean sheet against us yesterday.

Current number one Kepa Arrizabalaga has endured a difficult spell at the club. The Spaniard has done little to justify his position as the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

Henderson, on the other hand, has distinguished himself as a player to watch out for. Chelsea will face stiff competition for the player from Sheffield United, who are keen to keep him on.

The player for his part is keen to become the number one at United. However, with David de Gea signing an extension just last year, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Not being able to get into the team despite the Spaniard’s mistakes could be a source of frustration for Henderson. This is something Chelsea should try to exploit.

At Chelsea, there is a requirement for a player with his set of skills. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the player though, making this deal a difficult prospect.

This gives us an option to bring in the player on loan. Having a proven keeper at the club albeit temporarily will give us more time to do our due diligence for potential replacements.

Whether a deal in any capacity can be agreed on remains to be seen.
