Chelsea Injury News: Defensive starlet set to return but key midfielders remain out

Andreas Christensen cleared to face Norwich City

According to the Express, Chelsea will welcome back Andreas Christensen for the match against Norwich City.

The 24-year-old limped off in the 3-0 loss against Sheffield United. Thankfully, he is now available to face an already relegated Canaries side.

The same cannot be said for two key midfielders – N’Golo Kante and Billy Gilmour. The latter is out for the season, while the former is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against Watford.

The Frenchman is, however, expected to be ready for the FA Cup semifinals against Manchester United at the weekend.

Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic started on the bench against Sheffield following his return from injury. It remains to be seen if he will make the starting line-up this time around.

Italian midfielder Jorginho, on the other hand, came in for much criticism for his insipid performance at the weekend. The 28-year-old has largely spent time on the sidelines since the restart. It remains to be seen if he will once again be dropped following Kovacic’s availability.

Defender Fikayo Tomori is still unavailable while Marco Van Ginkel is also working on his fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Chelsea looked to have surrendered their grip on third spot, only for Leicester City and Manchester United to return the favour.

With just three more games to go, we cannot afford any more slip-ups. With Liverpool and then Wolverhampton Wanderers to follow, the game against Norwich becomes a must-win.

The Canaries became the first team to get relegated from the Premier League this season. They are ripe for the taking and nothing less than a win will do.
