Transfer boost for Lampard as Chelsea target considers future after successful loan spell

Chelsea target Ben White to consider his future following successful Leeds loan

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea target Ben White is considering his future plans after a successful loan spell at Championship winners Leeds United.

The 22-year-old, who is on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, has enjoyed a fruitful season at Elland Road. He has been a key member in Marcelo Bielsa’s side and has ensured that the team did not miss Swedish international Pontus Jansson, who left the club last summer.

He played every single minute of what has been a historic campaign for the Yorkshire outfit. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea all keen.

Chelsea have suffered defensively this season, with us looking leaderless at the back at times. With the club set to have a busy summer, the rearguard is one area that we can ignore at our own peril.

White hasn’t just shown exemplary fitness to complete a hectic season by playing regularly. He has also shown himself to be a consistent performer, whose stats are better if not comparable to our top three centre-backs.

Now on his way back to Brighton, White will have benefitted by playing under a master tactician such as Bielsa. Although the Seagulls would like to keep him, it remains to be seen if his head will be turned by better offers.

A no-nonsense defender who has also shown an ability to be a leader, he is exactly what the Chelsea back-line needs.

His performance away at Stoke showcased everything great about him in a nutshell. He put up what was widely considered to be one of the best performances by a Leeds defender in recent times.

A player who is also blessed with good technical ability, White was voted the best young player in the EFL by Sky Sports readers.

The 22-year-old has made 118 first-team appearances at a senior club level. Although none has come in the Premier League, he has shown he has the attributes to make the step up from the second division. He might just be worth taking a gamble on.
