Bundesliga star impressed by Chelsea project after speaking to international teammates

Kai Havertz impressed by Chelsea project

According to the Standard, Kai Havertz has been left impressed by Frank Lampard’s Chelsea project following conversations with Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner.

The 21-year-old is one of the best young players in the world. The Blues are closing in on signing him. It will make him the third high-profile signing the club has made this summer. (h/t Standard)

Havertz, too, is keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge. He has made his intentions clear to Bayer Leverkusen in a meeting with the club’s hierarchy last week. (h/t Standard)

It’s not just the board room that is involved in the deal. Chelsea’s German internationals too are doing their part to help the Blues snare their talented teammate.

According to the report, both Rudiger and Werner have urged Havertz to join them at the Bridge. It appears they have done enough to help sway the German’s mind. With no other club in the fray for his signature, it makes our attempt all the easier.

The project at Chelsea was something touched upon by Werner in his first interview at the club. He spoke at length about his conversation with Lampard and his vision for the club’s future.

The German is known for assisting as much as scoring bucket-loads of goals. We wonder if his nudge to Havertz counts as one.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen for Havertz are underway. The Blues are ready to meet the €80m asking fee but only after add-ons. Talks are ongoing regarding the final fee.

Havertz is back in training with Leverkusen as they prepare for their Europa League game against Rangers, which is set to take place next week.
