“Don’t get too arrogant” – Chelsea boss Lampard lashes out at title winners Liverpool

Lampard will face off against Klopp next

Frank Lampard has a strong message for title winners Liverpool

Speaking to Sky Sports, Frank Lampard has urged Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool to not get too arrogant following their 5-3 win over Chelsea last night.

The Blues were unable to spoil the Merseysiders’ special occasion as we slumped to a 5-3 defeat. Although an entertaining encounter for a neutral, it was a frustrating night for the Chelsea boss.

The spark between the managers occurred in the first half after Mateo Kovacic brought down Sadio Mane in the Chelsea half.

“Fair play to Liverpool Football Club, they’ve won the league, but also don’t get too arrogant with it.”

Liverpool scored from the resulting foul to gain a 2-0 lead

Trent Alexander-Arnold stepped up to curl his free-kick home, in what has now become a trademark. The result did little to lighten Lampard’s mood.

“For me, it wasn’t a foul from Kovacic, and there were a lot of things that weren’t going our way.”

Lampard sticks to the point that it was not a foul on Kovacic before admitting that he has no problems with Klopp.

Georginio Wijnaldum made it 3-0 before Olivier Giroud pulled one back before the break. Roberto Firmino scored his first goal at Anfield this season before Christian Pulisic came off the bench to give us hope.

Unfortunately, it was not to be and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain settled the game late on.

It was a heated encounter that brought back memories of the Liverpool-Chelsea battles from the past. Provided we develop as we expect, there should be plenty of them in the future.

It was ultimately a match that had fireworks both on and off the pitch. Hopefully, we will soon get to experience the same at Stamford Bridge.

Some sections can call Lampard a sore loser. We have no problems with that. It helps maintain a competitive edge that remains defiant even during a setback.

The truth, however, remains that Liverpool showed us exactly why they are ahead of us at the moment. That lesson would have been harsher had former Blues star Mohamed Salah been more clinical.

It is time we took the lesson and moved on. Lampard clearly seems to know what he is up against and the onus is on the team to step up and meet it.

Willian and Pedro look set the leave the club this summer

Pedro will not feature against Bayern Munich after undergoing surgery

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea winger Pedro has undergone surgery on his shoulder after dislocating it in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.

This rules him out of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. With him set to move to Roma in the summer, he has now played his last game for the club.

It will bring a glorious five-year spell at Stamford Bridge to an end. During this time, he has made 206 appearances, scoring 43 goals and 28 assists.

The player took to Instagram to confirm that the surgery went well. He regrets not being able to win the FA Cup and thanked the fans for their wishes.

A versatile player who can play anywhere along the frontline, Pedro has been an effective player for the Blues. His pace combined with his eye for goal have been the traits that have seen him score a number of important goals.

He played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League win in 2017, FA cup win in 2018, and the Europa League victory in 2019. Unfortunately, we fell short this season and the Spaniard could not leave the club on a high.

Twitter reacts as images of Chelsea’s alleged third strip leaks online

Images of what appeared to be Chelsea’s third kit for the 2020-21 season have been doing the rounds on Twitter.

It is fair to say that the design does not sit well with the Chelsea faithful. The major reason for this is the fairly predominant shade of Red stretching across it.

Comprising of vertical blue and red stripes on the front, it looks more like a jersey of Merseyside United rather than the best team in London.

Blues no more? Chelsea’s new third kit appears to have a dastardly shade of red

The stripes begin as solid stripes at the top of the shirt, just beneath the neck, before merging into a red mass towards the bottom.

Although there has been no official confirmation from the club regarding the design, it is fair to say that the fans have already had their say.

It would not be amiss to think that they do not like it at all. We take a look at some of the reactions below.

Chelsea are open to offers for N’Golo Kante among others

According to the Times, Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for star midfielder N’Golo Kante, with a number of other stars also available.

The Frenchman has been a key player for the club since moving from Leicester City in 2016. He has however endured an injury-hit campaign this time around that has seen him feature just 27 times.

The Blues showed plenty of promise but eventually fell short of silverware this season. More so, there currently exists a chasm between us and Liverpool/Manchester City at the top.

Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Frank Lampard has turned his attention to further reinforcements.

According to the report, the Blues boss is keen to add Kai Havertz, a new goalkeeper and a new left-back. With the club shopping at the high end of the market for top names, they are unlikely to come cheap.

Accordingly, some players will have to leave, potentially even Kante. At 29, the Frenchman’s injuries are frequent enough to be a cause of concern.

He only recently made the bench in the FA Cup final following another hamstring injury. He has so far made 169 appearances for Chelsea, bagging 11 goals and 7 assists.

Kante won the PFA Players’ Player of the YearFWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards in his first season at the club. 2019-20 marks the first campaign where he has gone trophyless in England.

The Frenchman is not the only player who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi and Kepa Arrizabalaga are all available for the right price. (h/t The Times)

Willian has scored ten goals in 2019/20

Willian rejects two-year contract offer from Chelsea

According to the Guardian, Willian is nearing the end of his Chelsea career after rejecting a two-year contract extension.

The Brazilian who joined the Blues in 2013, has been a key player for the club for the last seven years. He has made 339 appearances for Chelsea and has scored 63 goals and 62 assists.

Willian is sticking to his demand for a three-year deal whereas Chelsea are only ready to offer him a two-year extension. Every delay increases the chance of him leaving the club, with arch-rivals Arsenal a possible destination.

The player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian had confirmed that his client has five offers on the table, including two from the Premier League.

According to the report, the chances of him moving to Barcelona are remote despite the Catalans’ interest in him. Willian had earlier opened up on his preference to stay in London. This should work in Arsenal’s favour if Chelsea are unable to convince him to stay.

The 31-year-old may be in his thirties but still packs a punch. He was instrumental in our performances since the restart as Chelsea eventually finished in fourth place.

Frank Lampard is keen to keep hold of the veteran Brazilian despite adding both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to his roster. Willian missed the FA Cup final defeat last Saturday due to an Achilles injury.

The Brazilian had earlier admitted he would like to stay on at Stamford Bridge. The only point of contention appears to be the length of the contract we have offered. However, given that he is already 31, the club’s hesitation is understandable.

A player who has won numerous trophies for the Blues, Willian’s experience is useful for a promising but young Chelsea side. A seasoned professional, the Brazilian brings a lot to the table.

With Pedro and Christian Pulisic both out injured, it remains to be seen if Willian makes his last hurrah in Blue against Bayern Munich.

Time is running out for Chelsea to make a decision on Willian’s future. A vastly experienced player with barely any injury concerns, it is clear why teams are lining up to secure him for free.
