Talented Chelsea starlet considers quitting Stamford Bridge after lack of chances

Callum Hudson-Odoi left frustrated by his lack of opportunities

According to the Independent, Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is frustrated with manager Frank Lampard over a lack of first-team opportunities.

The 19-year-old has made 29 appearances this season while contributing to four goals and six assists. He has, however, completed the whole 90 minutes just nine times. (h/t Transfermakt)

The young winger was a subject of intense interest from German giants Bayern Munich last summer. He eventually put the rumours to rest by penning a five-year contract just 10 months ago.

Hudson-Odoi’s frustration can be understood considering he has played a mere 48 minutes since the restart.

According to the report, although the youngster will consider his options, he is aware that in the current scenario, offers may not be easily forthcoming.

Primarily a left-winger, the 19-year-old’s exclusion can be attributed to Christian Pulisic’s fine form. The American international has been one of our best players since the restart and has proven himself to be undroppable.

Hudson-Odoi is held in high regard at Chelsea. Although the Blues have brought in both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, the departure of Pedro will present the youngster with more opportunities.

Competition for places is a trademark at big clubs such as Chelsea. At 19, Hudson-Odoi should be looking to improve his game and make the most of the opportunities rather than complain at the lack of chances.

As long as others keep performing better than him, there is no reason for Lampard to bench them in his favour. It is something he has to accept and take up as a challenge in order to flourish at the Bridge.
