Marcos Alonso being pushed by his father towards Sevilla
According to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (h/t Express), Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has been urged by his father to join Sevilla this summer.
The Spanish star appears to be on his way out as Frank Lampard plans a defensive shakeup at left-back. Although he has made 26 appearances for the club in the current campaign, he has failed to hold onto his position due to his lapses in defensive output.
Sevilla are keen to bring him back to his home country. They have an ally in his father, who played for the club briefly from January 1999 to March 2000.
According to the report, Alonso’s father could exert pressure on his son to don the same colours for the upcoming season. Sevilla’s Director of Football Monchi is also monitoring the left-back’s situation and hopes the promise of regular game time in the Champions League could help them agree on a deal.
Los Nervionenses are short of funds, while having multiple positions that need strengthening. This could see them make an attempt to loan Alonso with an option to buy. They are in no position to enter a bidding war at this point in time.
Emerson Palmieri too looks to be on his way out. The Italian has been attracting attention from former Blues bosses Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte, now in charge of Juventus and Inter Milan respectively.
Sevilla are currently managed by Julen Lopetegui. The former Spanish national team boss has a good idea of Alonso, having given him his international bow.

Leicester City star Ben Chilwell is the club’s preferred choice at left-back. However, the Blues are unwilling to match the Foxes’ valuation of the England international.
This has seen the club turn their attention to Atalanta’s swashbuckling full-back, Robin Gosens. A true threat both defensively and in the attack, he is also a financially viable option.
