Chelsea are keen to increase Dean Henderson’s wages
According to the MEN, Chelsea are willing to more than double Dean Henderson’s wages if he makes the switch to Stamford Bridge.
The Manchester United star who is currently on loan at Sheffield United has impressed in his first season in the top-flight.
He has kept 13 clean sheets this season and is third in the race for the Golden Glove. This is in stark comparison to Kepa Arrizabalaga who does not even feature in the top 10.
The Blues are keen to bring in a replacement for Kepa. The club placed much faith in making him the world’s most expensive keeper. That belief appears to have been misplaced.
According to the report, Chelsea are in touch with the player’s representatives. Henderson currently earns £70,000-per-week. The Blues are ready to perk that up significantly to a whopping £170,000-per-week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier admitted that he believes Henderson will take the mantle from David de Gea as Manchester United’s number one. But he did urge for patience.
The Spaniard signed a four-year extension last season. Henderson is set to return to Old Trafford when the season ends. He had earlier revealed that he is not keen to stay on at United as a competitor to De Gea.
The Spaniard has seen his form drop off in recent years. It remains to be seen if his latest blunder against us last weekend makes his position untenable.
Henderson for his part is keen to become United’s number one. However, he is not averse for a change in scenery otherwise. His current deal expires in 2022, with Manchester United keen to offer him an extension.

Henderson won the EFL Golden Glove in 2019 and was also a part of the English team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017. He is also in the race for this season’s Premier League Golden Glove.
Hopefully, United will keep faith in De Gea. That should pave the way for Henderson to make the switch to Chelsea.
