Injury News: Lampard confirms prolific Chelsea star was injured ahead of Man United win

Frank Lampard reveals Christian Pulisic injury setback

According to Football.london, Frank Lampard has revealed why he left our star attacker Christian Pulisic out of the starting lineup against Manchester United.

The young winger has been in scintillating form since the restart but could only make the bench in one of Chelsea’s biggest games of the season.

“Christian Pulisic has got a small injury issue and there is a risk in starting him trying to play the full game.”

Lampard went on to add that he hoped the 21-year-old would make an impact off the bench. Thankfully, it was not needed as the Blues waltzed their way to a 3-1 victory.

The fact that we were able to rest arguably our best player at the moment will be a boon as the race for the top four draws to a close.

Leicester City’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur solidifies our hold on the third spot. With the Foxes set to take on Manchester United in a potential winner-takes-all clash, Chelsea could be the biggest winners.

A win in our next game should guarantee us a top-four finish regardless of what our opponents do.

Lampard will face off against Klopp next
Pulisic will be ready for Liverpool

With us set to take on champions Liverpool next, it is imperative that we have our best players available. To that end, Lampard can now call upon a well-rested Pulisic.

The young winger was a thorn for the Reds defence in our UEFA Super Cup clash earlier in the season. He ran rings around the Liverpool back four and even got himself an assist.

He may not have the chance to do so once again when we turn up at Anfield later this week. Jurgen Klopp’s may have experienced a dip in form of late, but they will present a formidable threat.

The fact that they considerably outplayed both Burnley and Arsenal despite the results must not be lost in the narrative. Lampard has shown he has what it takes to beat the best. By making the bold decision at Wembley, he has also now made sure he has the best tools available for the job.
