Lampard’s decision could force Chelsea to reduce £27m asking price for out-of-favour star

Chelsea could reduce the asking price for Emerson Palmieri

According to Inter News (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea may be forced to decrease their asking price for out of favor defender Emerson Palmieri.

The 25-year-old is out of favour at the Bridge and has been linked with a move to Serie A. Having joined the club in 2018, he has made 53 appearances while scoring once and assisting five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

However, Lampard is not in favour of keeping the player. This is likely to force the hand of Marina Granovskaia to agree on a deal that is lower than the club’s £27m valuation. (h/t Daily Star)

With Marcos Alonso also set to move, the Blues are in the market for a new left-back. Leicester City star Ben Chilwell is the club’s preferred choice. With the Foxes on the verge of dropping out of the top four, it remains to be seen if he will push for a move.

Having formerly impressed for Roma, Emerson has suitors in two former Chelsea managers- Antonio Conte at Iner Milan and Maurizio Sarri at Juventus. (h/t Daily Star)

Emerson had earlier spoken out regarding news of his unhappiness with Frank Lampard. The Italian refuted the claims and claimed he has nothing but gratitude and respect. (h/t Daily Star)

The Blues are currently in the third spot having leap logged Leicester. With just four more games to go, we cannot afford to slip up.

Chelsea are in the midst of an overhaul that can make or break the future. With clubs reeling under the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, our inability to spend last summer has proven to be our salvation.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already joined the Blue revolution. It is however the backline that now needs reshaping. There is no doubt that Chilwell is a brilliant player who will only get better.

Whether that will be at Chelsea or not remains to be seen.
