Frank Lampard expects Christian Pulisic to emulate Eden Hazard
According to Sky Sports (h/t Express), Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has revealed how summer signing Christian Pulisic can emulate former Blues favourite Eden Hazard.
The American sensation plays in the same position as Hazard, who departed for Real Madrid last summer. Although he has not yet had the same effect as the Belgian, Pulisic has enjoyed a promising start to life at the Bridge.
Lampard believes that by improving his end product, the 21-year-old has a real shot at emulating the former Chelsea star.
“A balance and the speed at which he can dribble with the ball, the next stage for him is more end product, more goals and more assists.”
Although he failed to get on the scoresheet against Watford, Pulisic won the penalty that Willian calmly dispatched. He was a constant thorn in Watford defence and proved a tough nut to crack.
The American has scored 8 goals and 6 assists in 28 games so far this season. His goal contribution of 0.50 per game is only comparatively lesser than Hazard’s 0.57 per game.
Pulisic, however, has the same effect on a game as the Belgian. The ability to change a game and turn up when required is very reminiscent of our former number 10.
He has enjoyed an excellent start since football resumed last month. His form has played a key role in our push for Champions League qualification.
“Since the restart, he’s already showing that and he looks great.”
Chelsea are also through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The Blues fell to Manchester City in the semifinals of the competition in Hazard’s first year. Hopefully, Pulisic will go one better.
