Sevilla interested in signing Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan
According to a report from The Sun, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga could be offered an escape route from his misery this summer, with Sevilla interested in signing him on loan.
Kepa joined Chelsea in the summer of 2018 from Athletic Bilbao in a £71.6m deal, making him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. However, the Spaniard has struggled to live up to the expectations in his two years at the Bridge.
Last year was dominated by his controversial refusal to come off when Maurizio Sarri wanted to substitute him in a game. This time out, the 25-year-old has struggled for form and confidence, making errors that have cost the team.
This had led to Frank Lampard benching him for a stretch of games earlier this year. While he did eventually return to the starting XI, Kepa hasn’t been convincing enough again, with his performance against West Ham raising questions once again.
With Lampard looking for new goalkeeping options, Kepa has been linked with a summer exit, even if it’s on loan. Valencia had been linked with a temporary switch for the Spaniard. And now Sevilla, too, are considering a swoop for him. (h/t The Sun)
However, the report adds that the goalkeeper’s £150,000-a-week wages would pose a problem for the La Liga outfit.

Kepa, so far this season, has featured on 36 occasions in all competitions. The Spaniard has conceded a whopping 48 goals in these matches, while managing just eight clean sheets.
With Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already signed and more incomings expected, it remains to be seen if the club has the requisite funds to secure a new goalkeeper as well. If so, we could see Kepa being shown the doors in the summer.
