Report – Bundesliga star could be a smokescreen for Chelsea signing blockbuster English sensation

Kai Havertz may just be a smokescreen for Jadon Sancho

Chelsea have stolen a march on their rivals with the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

Both players will be key additions who will further our efforts to close the gap to Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Blues are, however, not done with their transfers, with a slew of stars still linked. One of them is Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz. Or is he?

There is no doubt that Havertz is an excellent player. He is one of Europe’s best youngsters and has garnered considerable attention from some of the best teams across the continent.

However, he pales when it comes to yet another Bundesliga talent – Jadon Sancho. The Borussia Dortmund star is in a league of his own and according to the Express, he could be Chelsea’s preferred target.

The biggest competitor for the English wonderkid is Manchester United. However, it looks like the Red Devils are not willing to pay more than £50million for Sancho.

This falls well below the £100m valuation that Dortmund have placed on him. With our rivals faltering, we could swoop in and sign the player for our own.

It is not without precedent, with us doing the same for Werner. The German looked set for Liverpool before Chelsea shocked the football world by making their move.

Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho is high on Chelsea’s wishlist

Sancho would be a truly world-class signing who can exponentially amplify our attack. The flying winger has enjoyed a brilliant season where he has scored 20 goals and 20 assists in 44 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The addition of Sancho will ensure we can give the Liverpool attack a run for their money. With Christian Pulisic already making waves, Werner and Sancho can potentially create a terrifying triad.

Whether it comes to be or not remains to be seen.
