Loan Watch: Italian giants in discussions with Chelsea to extend 29-year-old star’s stay

Inter Milan keen to extend the loan of Victor Moses

According to the Daily Mail, Inter Milan are in touch with Chelsea to extend the loan of Victor Moses until the end of the season.

The Nigerian did his cause no harm as he provided an injury-time assist to Alessandro Bastoni as the Nerazzuri defeated Parma 2-1. This keeps the Italians in third place, eight points off Juventus.

Having joined on loan in January, Moses has made 11 appearances for Inter. In Antonio Conte, he has a manager who knows his strengths well, having earlier managed him at Chelsea.

Although the Italians are keen to keep hold of the player until the end of the season, there is no breakthrough in talks yet.

According to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail), Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that it is not yet certain that the player will complete the season in Italy.

Inter not only have 10 more games in the Serie A to go but also have a Europa League campaign to negotiate.

Moses impressed as a wing-back in the Italian manager’s 3-4-3 system at Chelsea. He was a part of Conte’s Blues squad that won both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

The 29-year-old made 78 appearances under Conte and scored 8 goals and 8 assists from the right wing-back position. (h/t Transfermarkt)

His only consistent run in the Chelsea squad came under Conte. Moses has otherwise gone out on loan five times. In his eight years at the club, he has made just 128 appearances.

There is no reason for us to deny Moses the chance to see out the season at the San Siro. If anything, an increase in his stock will make it easier to sell him off in the summer.
