Abramovich ready to axe underperforming Chelsea ace to continue summer spree

Chelsea ready to sell Kurt Zouma

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to sell defender Kurt Zouma.

The 25-year-old has been at the club for six years now. Despite the early promise, he has failed to transform into a dominant defender.

The Blues are ready to cut their losses and sell the player to help fund other transfers. Chelsea have enjoyed an excellent start to the summer, having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

We are still on the lookout for more players. The likes of Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and Leverkusen star Kai Havertz continue to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

They will not come cheap though. This means the club will have to sell some of the players in order to balance the books.

One such player is Zouma. Brought in by Jose Mourinho, he can now reunite with our former boss at Tottenham. With Jan Vertonghen on his way out and a defensive restructure needed, Zouma could find opportunities easier to come by at the Lane.

Although he has made 33 appearances for the club this season, his lack of consistency and penchant for making errors has cost us valuable points.

It was reported by the Daily Mail that Chelsea are on the lookout for a centre-back. Given that Antonio Rudiger has been the only centre-half who has performed well this season, it comes as no surprise.

Chelsea are a team on the up. We hope to be challenging the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City soon.

To do so, we need the best players in the business. Sadly, Zouma isn’t one of them and is hence expendable. Whether we are willing to let him go to a direct rival remains to be seen.
