Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits to physical and mental struggles following injury return

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits that he is yet to reach his physical and mental peak since returning from injury.

“I did feel a yard off at times, physically and mentally.”

Having suffered a serious Achilles injury, the youngster returned to action Aston Villa for the first time since May 2019. Although he felt good to be back, he feels it will take a while for him to get to his best.

“Honestly it felt amazing after so long without playing, 13 months since my last competitive game.”

Usually deployed in the middle of the park, Ruben spent his first match back on the wing. He lasted 55 minutes before being subbed off.

The youngster is not concerned about where he gets to play as long as he can do what he can for the team. A quick, strong player, he feels he can utilize his strengths either in the center or out wide.

He wistfully recollects how he could make use of his power and strength to become a dominating force last season. A player with an eye for goal, he can add much to the Chelsea squad.

Right now it is imperative that he gets back to full match fitness as quickly as possible. His ability is not in question and should blossom once he is completely ready.

With a busy transfer window expected at Stamford Bridge, competition for places will be hot next season. A supremely talented player, it remains to be seen how he holds up.
