Chelsea star set to become one of the best-paid players in the Premier League

Timo Werner to be paid handsomely at Chelsea

Chelsea pulled off the deal of the window so far as they beat a host of clubs to Leipzig ace Timo Werner.

Now according to Bild (h/t Express), details of the German’s lucrative Chelsea contract has been revealed.

The 24-year-old is set to pocket a generous yearly salary of £14m. This works out at £270,000-a-week or £38,500 per day. This will make him one of the highest-paid players in the Chelsea squad and the EPL. (h/t Express)

According to GiveMeSport (h/t Express), French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante is the highest-paid Blues player with a weekly wage of £290,000. The amount is debatable considering most other sources place it at a much more modest £150,000-a-week alongside Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Werner is set to receive a substantial sign-on bonus. According to the report, this will amount to an eye-watering £10m.

The German hotshot will see out the current Bundesliga season but will not partake in Leipzig’s Champions League campaign when it resumes in August.

Werner has been in prolific form this season and has scored 26 goals in 33 Bundesliga games while netting 32 times across all competitions. (h/t Express)

Liverpool initially were initially leading the race for his signature. They were, however, not ready to fork out the required money to meet the German’s release clause. (h/t Sky Sports)

The Blues are set to have a busy transfer window this time around. Hakim Ziyech is also on his way to Stamford Bridge while the likes of Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell are also in the frame.
