Frank Lampard backs N’Golo Kante to remain at Chelsea
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed that star midfielder N’Golo Kante will say at the club.
The 29-year-old’s future was called into question of late. Chelsea were told to be ready to sell him in order to fund a move for Kai Havertz.
It now appears not to be the case as Lampard’s comments clearly put the speculation to rest.
“N’Golo is one of the best midfield players in the world. He has everything I really want to work with.”
The Blues boss also confirmed that his French maestro is fit and raring to go. Kante had initially opted against taking part in phase one of non-contact training. His fears were understood by the club, who granted him compassionate leave.
He eventually returned to training and is now available for the trip to Villa Park. His return will be a boost to Lampard who is set to work on retaining the fourth spot.
“It’s nice to see him fresh. N’Golo is so important to us as a team. We need him regularly and hopefully, we’ll have that now.”
He has had a season to forget, with injuries limiting him to just 22 appearances. Having joined the club in 2016, he has since made 164 appearances for Chelsea, while scoring 11 goals and 7 assists.
The Frenchman won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards in his first season at the club.
