Chelsea interested in Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson
According to the Daily Mail (h/t Express), Chelsea are keeping tabs on Dean Henderson.
The most expensive keeper in the world, Kepa Arrizabalaga has looked anything but as he struggles to perform consistently. This has seen him get dropped to the bench, with Willy Caballero moving up to the first XI.
Although Kepa eventually regained his spot, there are doubts concerning his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old Dean Henderson is currently on loan at Sheffield United. He has played a key role in the Blades’ push for European competition. He has made 30 appearances for the Blades and has conceded just 24 goals. This has seen him keep an impressive 11 clean sheets. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His average of 0.8 goals conceded per match is much better than Kepa’s average of 1.3 goals per match. A dominant keeper who is not afraid to rush into the attacker, Henderson’s bravery makes him a tough nut to crack.
Getting him might not be easy given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s recent comments. He revealed that he expects Henderson to eventually take over from David de Gea.
The Spaniard had extended his stay at United until 2023 by penning a new deal earlier this season. It remains to be seen if we can tempt Henderson away with the opportunity for more game time.
Henderson won the EFL Golden Glove in 2019 and was also a part of the English team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017. He is also in the running for this season’s Premier League Golden Glove.
