Frank Lampard identifies three alternatives to Ben Chilwell
According to transfer expert Nicola Schira, Ben Chilwell remains Chelsea’s first-choice target for left-back.
However, the club also has identified three alternatives to the Englishman. The same was conveyed by Schira on his official Twitter account.
The three players are Ajax Amsterdam’s Nicolas Tagliafico, Porto’s Alex Telles, and PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa. He also added that Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri could be on his way back to Italy.
Chilwell is an excellent player. However, with his contract running until 2024, Leicester can demand top dollar for their star man.
Frank Lampard is a fan of the Leicester City star. However, with the Foxes demanding up to £80million for his services, we may be forced to look elsewhere. Hence, it is imperative that we identify backups if and when needed.
Of the three, Kurzawa is the cheapest as he will be available as a free agent in the summer. An experienced player who has been a part of PSG’s domestic dominance, he comes with the knowhow of winning trophies.
Telles is another experienced player who will be an excellent addition. His £35million release clause also makes him comparatively affordable than Chilwell. However, with PSG and Manchester City in the fray, we will have a fight on our hands to land him.
Tagliafico has been impressive for Ajax since joining them in 2018. The Argentine international is keen to leave the Dutch giants and could be available for £22.4m.
He is a better defender than Kurzawa and could be a shrewd signing for us.

Chelsea have already splashed the cash to bring in Hakim Ziyech and have agreed to pay Timo Werner’s release clause.
With the club spending a lot on the two attackers amidst suffering a loss financially, it remains to be seen if we can afford Chilwell. If not, the club will not be caught unawares, having done their due diligence on other targets.
