Chelsea receive injury boost ahead of Aston Villa clash

The lack of transfers over the last two windows have been a tough hurdle in Frank Lampard first season at Chelsea.

The Blues boss has had to promote from within to shore up his squad. It has worked to our advantage as a number of youngsters have stepped up and made themselves count.

With the race for the top four going down to the wire, the injuries could have played a key role in our fortunes.

However, the suspension of the league has worked in our favour, with a number of stars finding the requisite time to get back to fitness.

According to the Daily Star, Lampard will be able to call upon four such players for the match against Aston Villa.

Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all benefitted from the layoff and are now back in contention.

Match fitness still remains to be regained, but having the option of calling upon the quartet will offer Lampard more options.

Abraham is the club’s top scorer this season, while Kante is unbreachable when on song. Add to it the guile, pace and the incisiveness of Pulisic and we have a strong line-up capable of finishing in the top four.

Loftus-Cheek remains the one who needs to be eased in more carefully given his lengthy layoff. Having spent nearly a year on the sidelines, he will need to be handled carefully.

Kante returned to action yesterday as Chelsea took on QPR in a friendly. The Blues looked up for it as we won 7-1 on the night.

The Frenchman’s absence has been a constant source of frustration for Lampard. His return will now solidify us in the middle of the park.
