7 goals to nil – Youth sensation shines as Chelsea put QPR to the sword in friendly

Billy Gilmour nets brace as Chelsea thrash QPR 7-1

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour was the hero as the Blues faced off against QPR in a friendly match ahead of Premier League return.

According to the Independent, Frank Lampard’s side were in cruise control as they won the game 7-1. Braces from Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were supplemented by goals from Oliver Giroud, Mason Mount, and Willian.

Another positive news was the appearance of N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman was included in the starting line-up after having returned to contact training last week.

Kante’s return is a boost for Chelsea

He had earlier expressed fears regarding a return to the pitch and was granted compassionate leave by the club. Now back in the thick of things, his return will aid us in our aim to hold onto the fourth spot.

The star of the show was another midfielder, Gilmour. The 19-year-old made a name for himself with an eye-catching performance against European champions Liverpool in the FA Cup.

He shackled Brazilian star Fabinho for the entire duration of the game as the Blues came out 2-0 winners. The youngster was convinced by Lampard to stay put rather than go out on loan in January.

It proved to be an inspired decision as he has stepped up magnificently in the following months. He also appears to have developed a scoring streak during the lockdown.

Five of the seven goals were scored by our youth players. It should give us an idea of the fine work being done by Lampard and his team at the club. The veterans were not keen on being left behind as Giroud and Willian both showed they still have it despite their age.
