Samuel Chukwueze reveals his fondness for the Blues
According to Instagram Live (h/t Metro), Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has revealed that he is a fan of Chelsea Football Club.
The flying Nigerian has scored 12 goals and 7 assists in 68 games since breaking into Villarreal’s first-team two years ago. His impressive performances have attracted interest from a number of Premier League’s top teams including Chelsea.
European champions Liverpool and Premier League winners Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Nigerian.
In a boost for us, the player has come out to reveal that he is in fact a Chelsea fan.
“My favourite team in England is Chelsea. I was supporting Chelsea when I was young”
Chukwueze admitted to being reduced to tears during our loss in the 2008 Champions League final to Manchester United.
Current Blues boss Frank Lampard was on the scoresheet that night as he cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener. Skipper John Terry missed a golden opportunity to win us the trophy on a night that is best left forgotten.
There would however be redemption as the Blues went on to clinch the elusive trophy four years later.
Chukwueze is one of Europe’s hottest young properties. Valued at £60million, he is also drawing interest from arch-rivals Arsenal.
The youngster models his game on Arjen Robben and was a part of the Nigerian squad that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2015 where he won the Bronze Boot. (h/t FIFA)

Chukwueze is likely to play a more central role at Chelsea when compared to Liverpool or City, given their options. The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular in the Nigerian national side as well. He has 2 goals in 12 appearances for his country.
