Juventus priced out of N’Golo Kante transfer

According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Express), Juventus have dropped Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante from their transfer wishlist for the summer.

The Frenchman has been an excellent signing for the Blues since joining the club in 2016. He has since made 164 appearances for Chelsea while scoring 11 goals and seven assists.

He has had a season to forget, with injuries limiting him to just 22 appearances this time around. According to the report, Chelsea are willing to move him on for the right price.

The Blues value the midfielder at an impressive £79million. This will see the club make a hefty profit on a player they signed for £32million four years ago.

Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who now manages Juventus, is a fan of the midfielder. In spite of Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici feeling the same way about the player, the Italians have been put off by Chelsea’s asking price. (h/t Express)

With three more years left on Kante’s contract, Chelsea holds the aces and is in no rush to sell. With the financial implications of the coronavirus shutdown not looking promising, the ability of clubs to spend big is also in question.

Kante has been a solid player for the club and has been anything if not reliable for us over the years. A senior player in a young side, the Frenchman brings a lot of experience, having played in some of football’s biggest games.

Keeping a fit Kante will still work to our benefit. Ultimately, the possibilities do have the ring of a win-win scenario for us.

Kante won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

It was also a year to remember as he won his second Premier League title in two years with two different teams. He is the first player since Eric Cantona to do so. (h/t Guardian)

He was a part of the French squad that won the FIFA World Cup in 2018. He was awarded the Legion of Honour, France’s highest decoration along with the rest of that team, following their triumph.
