Chelsea star pledges to play for the Blues beyond contract expiry due to coronavirus

Willian pledges to play for Chelsea beyond contract expiry due to coronavirus

According to a report by Sky Sports, Chelsea star Willian has pledged to continue playing for the club even beyond the expiry of his current contract.

The attacker’s contract is supposed to expire at the end of the ongoing season – which should have been the end of June. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, the campaign has been suspended until the end of April.

The UEFA has allotted time for all leagues to complete their remaining fixtures of the season, meaning Willian might no longer be a Chelsea player after a point.

However, as per Sky Sports, the Brazilian has pledged to continue playing for the club as long as it is needed.

This is indeed a classy move by the talented winger, who has been in and around Stamford Bridge for many years now.

The report adds that he is still locked in negotiations over a new deal but if there is no progress, that player will continue playing for Chelsea – even if the season extends beyond June 30th.
