Chelsea prepare to beat West Ham to sign Estoril star Chiquinho
According to a report by Portuguese outlet Record (h/t The Sun), Chelsea are set to beat London rivals West Ham United to sign Estoril starlet Chiquinho in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese youngster’s performances in the second-tier competition have been quite eye-catching and as a result, both Chelsea and West Ham are keen on bagging his services, as per Record (h/t The Sun).
The report adds that although both clubs have made bids for the player, Chelsea are believed to have an upper hand.
The 20-year-old scored 6 goals in 24 games for the club’s U23 side before breaking into the first-team. As of now, he has scored once in 8 appearances.
Having come through Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy, Chiquinho joined Estoril. A midfielder by trade, the 20-year-old would represent a solid long-term investment for us.
The likes of Willian, Pedro and Olivier Giroud will reach the end of their contracts with the club when the season concludes. And with that in mind, it does make sense to target young attackers.
