Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had identified Ziyech as a transfer target in January. He has now got his man.
The 26-year-old joined Ajax from FC Twente in 2016. He has since gone on to make 157 appearances for the club. Ziyech was instrumental in Ajax’s fairy tale run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals last season.
The Moroccan scored three goals and three assists as the Dutch giants overcame the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus.
Ziyech will cost Chelsea £38 million, a fee significantly lower than what Jadon Sancho is set to command. Ten Hag has stated that the club have been braced for the player’s departure for some time now.
“Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen.”

Ten Hag went on to state that he had expected a transfer to take place earlier and is happy to have the player available until the end of the season (h/t Metro).
The Ajax boss went to express his pride in the player and termed Chelsea a ‘fantastic club’ as he conveyed his happiness for the player (h/t Metro).
