Chelsea could make summer move for top-class Argentine star impressing in Ligue 1

Chelsea are keen on signing Mauro Icardi in the summer

Frank Lampard is keen to sign Argentine striker Mauro Icardi in the summer, according to Football.London.

The former Inter Milan captain is currently on loan with French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain. The striker has scored 19 goals and two assists in 29 appearances for the defending champions.

With Michy Batshuayi misfiring and Oliver Giroud’s contract to run out in the summer, Chelsea are extremely dependent on Tammy Abraham upfront.

Lampard would ease the workload on the youngster’s shoulders by bringing in a striker in the summer.

Is the decision dependent on the player’s better half?

With the player also receiving attention from Real Madrid and Juventus, his wife Wanda Nara would have a key role in where he ends up this summer.

Icardi’s wife also doubles up as his agent has suggested that the player favours a return to Italy with Juventus.

She has also commented that she is unsure if the player will return to Milan or stay in Paris. The decision ultimately rests with Icardi and Wanda will follow him.
