Chelsea to complete £23m transfer of this Serie A star

Chelsea have agreed to meet the asking price of Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino

According to the Daily Express (h/t Metro), Chelsea have agreed to meet Inter Milan’s asking price for Matias Vecino.

The Blues have prioritized the signing of a central midfielder and have set their sights on the Uruguayan international.

Inter value the player at £23 million which Chelsea have agreed to meet. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is the current manager of Inter. The Italian is keen to offload Vecino to free funds for the summer.

The midfielder was linked with a January move to Manchester United and Everton. Fortunately for Chelsea, neither of the clubs were able to agree on a fee. (h/t Metro)

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Inter with Antonio Conte preferring to use Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Borja Valero when fit. Stefano Sensi’s good form has also seen Vecino go out of favor.

The signing of Christian Eriksen will not have helped Vecino’s cause either.

If the transfer goes through, it will be Chelsea’s second signing for the summer. The Blues have already agreed on a deal for Ajax Amsterdam star Hakim Ziyech. (h/t Metro)
