Chelsea keen on signing Ben Chilwell in the summer

Chelsea are preparing a move for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell in the summer transfer window, according to Football.London. The 23-year-old came up through the youth ranks at Leicester before making his Premier League debut in 2016 against Everton.

He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the league’s best left-backs. Chilwell has made 22 appearances for the Foxes this season and has scored two goals and three assists. (h/t Whoscored)

Left-back is a position that the Blues need to address this summer. Marcos Alonso is out of favour and Emerson has been linked with a return to Serie A.

At just 23, Chilwell has the potential to nail down the position at Chelsea for years to come. He is also well experienced in the Premier League to come in and make an immediate impact.

He is defensively solid and does well in one vs ones. His attacking qualities have also improved, with the player able to push up the pitch and deliver crosses with increasing accuracy.

Manchester City is also interested in the player with Leicester set to demand over £80million for his services.

Interestingly Chilwell was sent off for the only time in his career so far against Chelsea. The defender has also won 11 caps for the England national team.

Crystal Palace keen on Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher

According to the Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in bidding up to £10m for Chelsea prospect, Conor Gallagher.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been at the club since 2008. Currently on loan at Swansea City, he has been an everpresent as the club strives to make the playoffs.

Gallagher believes he has improved massively in terms of creativity since his move to the Liberty Stadium. This can be attributed to him assisting 6 times in 14 appearances for the Swans so far. (h/t Transfermarkt)

This has caught the attention of Palace boss Roy Hodgson. He sees the 20-year-old as an ideal prospect as he tries to strengthen his squad.

Gallagher has two years left on his Chelsea contract and Hodgson hopes the club is willing to part with the talented youngster. The youngster had spent the first half of the season on loan at Charlton Athletic. He played 26 times for them, scoring 6 goals and assisting 4. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Although Frank Lampard has proven generous in his willingness to play youngsters, the Blues are well stocked in midfield. It remains to be seen if Gallagher has what it takes to break into our squad.

According to the report, Palace are keen to take him either permanently or on a loan. A loan would be the better choice though, given that Gallagher will find game time easier to come by at Selhurst Park.

This will give us the perfect scenario to judge the youngster’s usefulness in a Chelsea jersey. If he does not meet our expectations, we might as well cash in on him.

It will also be a test of the youngster’s willingness to prove himself. Having grown up admiring Frank Lampard, he now has an opportunity to please the Chelsea boss.

A box-to-box midfielder who can fulfil a variety of roles, Gallagher’s adaptability is an excellent strength.

Antonio Rudiger wants Kai Havertz at Chelsea

Speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea defensive star Antonio Rudiger has revealed that he wants Kai Havertz to join him at Stamford Bridge.

If it does happen, he will be the second major German star to move to Chelsea this window, following Timo Werner.

“I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t want him at Chelsea.”

Rudiger clearly has a high impression of his international compatriot. Given his first-hand experience of having played alongside him, it comes as no surprise.

“Kai is talented. When I saw him train with the Germany national team I was like, wow!”

The 21-year-old is one of the sought after players in world football. The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Leverkusen star.

The youngster has enjoyed a prolific season in Germany. He has scored 17 goals and made 9 assists in 43 games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

After having missed out on the Champions League and also falling short in the cup final, Havertz could be ready to make a fresh start at Chelsea. It is bound to be a matter of debate when he next meets up with Leverkusen officials. (h/t Daily Mail)

Kai Havertz remains the top priority for Chelsea

The Germans can still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League.

The Blues have taken the transfer market by storm with their moves for Werner and Ziyech. Adding Havertz to the mix will make this our most exciting window for some time.

Rudi Voeller had earlier admitted that although Leverkusen hopes to retain the German for another year, his departure remains a very real possibility.

Chelsea’s pursuit of the player has been made easier following the lack of enthusiasm shown by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. (h/t Daily Mail)

The Blues are currently in fourth spot and are also in the semifinals of the FA Cup. The Frank Lampard era has had its shares of up and downs but also undeniable progress.

Whether Havertz will join the Blue revolution or not remains to be seen.

Havertz has made seven appearances for the German national team and has scored one goal.

Frank Lampard expects Christian Pulisic to emulate Eden Hazard

According to Sky Sports (h/t Express), Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has revealed how summer signing Christian Pulisic can emulate former Blues favourite Eden Hazard.

The American sensation plays in the same position as Hazard, who departed for Real Madrid last summer. Although he has not yet had the same effect as the Belgian, Pulisic has enjoyed a promising start to life at the Bridge.

Lampard believes that by improving his end product, the 21-year-old has a real shot at emulating the former Chelsea star.

“A balance and the speed at which he can dribble with the ball, the next stage for him is more end product, more goals and more assists.”

Although he failed to get on the scoresheet against Watford, Pulisic won the penalty that Willian calmly dispatched. He was a constant thorn in Watford defence and proved a tough nut to crack.

The American has scored 8 goals and 6 assists in 28 games so far this season. His goal contribution of 0.50 per game is only comparatively lesser than Hazard’s 0.57 per game.

Pulisic, however, has the same effect on a game as the Belgian. The ability to change a game and turn up when required is very reminiscent of our former number 10.

He has enjoyed an excellent start since football resumed last month. His form has played a key role in our push for Champions League qualification.

“Since the restart, he’s already showing that and he looks great.”

Chelsea are also through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The Blues fell to Manchester City in the semifinals of the competition in Hazard’s first year. Hopefully, Pulisic will go one better.

Kante is out injured

Frank Lampard provides N’Golo Kante injury update

According to the Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard fears that star midfielder N’Golo Kante will miss the English Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

A perfect night against Watford was hampered by the hamstring injury sustained by the Frenchman. Although we lead Manchester United in the top-4 race, the injury left a sour taste in our mouth.

“He’s got a small hamstring injury so we will see how that goes.”

A dominant midfielder, Kante’s experience will be crucial in our remaining few games. The competition for the top four is heating up while we also have the FA Cup semifinals against Manchester United to come.

The biggest games demand the best players. Kante has had rough luck with injuries this season but will hopefully not be out for long. He does, however, look likely to miss the clash against Crystal Palace.

“But I’m guessing it will be a problem for Palace on Tuesday.”

Thankfully for us, Palace themselves are in the midst of an injury crisis as they struggle to put points on the board. This can also give Lampard and opportunity to bring Jorginho back into the line-up.

Jorginho or Billy Gilmour could step in for Kante

The Italian has been conspicuous by his absence since the restart. Having featured in 26 of our 29 Premier League games prior to the suspension, his current absence is all the more baffling.

Another player who could come in is youngster Billy Gilmour. The 19-year-old came on for Kante against Watford and could do the same against Palace.

More Chelsea News

Chelsea cannot afford to drop any more points. Manchester United are hot on our heels and have discovered a rich vein of form.

With Leicester also appearing to have rediscovered their best, Lampard will be keen to win all the games that are left.

We still have our fate in our own hands. Throwing it away will risk the good work done this season.
