Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana favours Chelsea transfer move
Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is keen on a move to the English Premier League this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, (h/t Metro), the Cameroonian is in favour of a move to Chelsea, with London being the player’s preference.
With Lampard seemingly losing patience with Kepa Arizzabalaga, Onana could be in line to secure the number one spot for himself if he joins the club.
Chelsea need a keeper and Onana would have greater chances of being a crucial member in the blue half of London.
Although a former Barcelona youth player, it is difficult to see the Cameroonian displace Marc Ande Ter Stegen. In fact, Onana has made 171 appearances for Ajax since transferring from the Nou Camp in 2015. (h/t Daily Mail)
The 23-year-old was an ever-present in the Ajax side as they enjoyed a dream run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals last season.
His performances last season saw him get nominated for the best goalkeeper award at the Balon d’Or. Onana, however, ended up losing to Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.
Ajax have a long-running relationship with Barcelona and prefer to do business with the Catalan giants.

The keeper’s current deal at Ajax runs till 2022. The Dutch giants could demand as much as £50 million for the Cameroonian shot-stopper.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea are willing to pay such an amount, just two seasons after paying a world record fee for Kepa.
