Frank Lampard draws up shortlist to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga
Frank Lampard is unhappy with the performances of Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (h/t Metro).
The 25-year-old joined Chelsea for £71.6 million in 2019. It was the highest fee ever paid for a goalkeeper and its fair to say that he hasn’t lived up to his expectations.
The Chelsea boss has identified Burnley’s Nick Pope and Crystal Palace’s Vicente Guaita as his top two targets to replace Kepa. (h/t Metro)
The Spaniard was dropped for the trip to Leicester City last weekend. Willy Caballero took his place in between the sticks.
Both Pope and Guaita are older players than Kepa, although in fairness, they have better stats than the Chelsea keeper this season.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is not in favour of selling Kepa. She personally pushed through the deal to sign him two years ago and does not want to make a loss on the player (h/t Daily Mail).
It is hard to see anyone paying Chelsea anything close to that sum for the player. But if the Spaniard keeps continues badly, the club will have no choice but to sell him for a loss.
