The 33-year-old joined Chelsea from cross-city rivals Arsenal in the winter transfer window in 2018. The striker has gone on to score 19 goals in 70 appearances for the Blues. (h/t Whoscored)

He famously opened the scoring against his former side in the UEFA Europa League final at Baku in 2019.

Giroud has found chances under Lampard limited, with the Chelsea legend choosing to use Tammy Abraham as his primary striker and Michy Batshuayi as his backup.

Giroud had made just 6 appearances this season scoring 1 goal. The player has made more appearances for his National side in the same time and has scored 6 goals in 10 European Championship Qualifiers. (h/t Whoscored)

Speaking about Giroud’s future, Lampard was quite open regarding the striker’s chances of leaving.

“If the conditions are that it’s something he really wants to do and it works for the club, for me and the squad then it’s something that could happen.”

The 33-year-old was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup third-round win against Nottingham Forest and fuelled speculation that he is set to leave by appearing to wave goodbye to the Stamford Bridge crowd at the final whistle.

France manager Didier Deschamps also urged the striker to seek more playing time elsewhere. Deschamps spoke of the possibility of dropping the striker if he doesn’t get regular playing time. (h/t ESPN)
