Alonso, who joined the Blues in 2016, has found himself overtaken by Emerson Palmieri as Lampard’s first-choice left-back. The Spanish defender has made just 14 appearances for the club this season and has scored one goal.
The Spaniard, who played a key role in Chelsea’s championship-winning side under Conte, has also won an FA Cup and the UEFA Europea League with the Blues.
The player could reunite with Conte at Inter Milan with the Italian giants one of the frontrunners for his signature. (h/t DailyMail)
Inter are interested in securing the player on a loan with an option to buy. This is unlikely to find favor with Chelsea who are looking to use the fee from Alonso to re-sign Nathan Ake who will reportedly cost £40m.
Alonso’s contract with Chelsea runs till the summer of 2023. This leaves the Londoners in a strong position when it comes to negotiations.
Inter are keen to add the wing-back to their roster as they chase a first league title since 2009-10. The Italians are also interested in securing the services of wantaway Chelsea striker Oliver Giroud.
