According to the Sky Sports presenter, Kaveh Solhekol, the midfielder is in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder has made 26 appearances for Lille this season. He also played in both of the club’s ties against Chelsea, giving the Blues hierarchy a first-hand look at his abilities.
The 20-year-old has been likened to French superstar Paul Pogba and is expected to blossom into a world-class midfielder.(h/t Football London)
A player who is adept at connecting the defense to the attack, his physical ability complements his well-rounded skill on the ball.
Soumare does possess some weaknesses such as his inability to contribute defensively. Of the 44 central midfielders to have amassed over 1,000 minutes in Ligue 1 this season, Soumare placed 43rd for defensive duels per 90 minutes.
He has also earned himself 2 red cards in the league this season, forcing some to question his temperament.
Soumare signed from Paris Saint Germain in 2017 and has gone on to establish himself as one of Ligue-1’s finest young prospects.
