Chelsea ready to bid £80m for Wilfried Zaha in the winter window
The Sun reports that Chelsea will table an £80m offer for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha in January.
The Ivorian agreed to remain at Selhurst Park this summer after failing to move away to Everton, according to the report.
The 26-year-old handed in a transfer request and did not train with the team on deadline day, and the Blues will move for him should they overturn a transfer ban in the winter window (h/t Sun).
Zaha is one of the best attackers in the Premier League and would fit into any of the top six sides in the competition.
Chelsea had a quiet window due to the ban, and even sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in the summer.
Frank Lampard has his work cut out at Stamford Bridge and it seems likely that several academy products will get the chance to impress under the new manager.
Zaha to lead the Chelsea line?
The Blues don’t have many attacking options at the moment with Gonzalo Higuain also returning to Juventus.
Zaha can play as the lead striker or out wide and it will be interesting to see where he could play if he joins the Blues.
Chelsea made one smart move before the transfer ban hit by signing Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
The Blues could see more action from the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount too, but Zaha would be a great signing for the club.
