Summer exodus for Napoli as Chelsea target Elseid Hysaj heads for exit
Napoli are planning a summer exodus, with Mario Rui, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne, Elseid Hysaj and Amadou Diawara set to exit the club. That’s because the Serie A club wants to rebuild their squad and solidify their position ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. (h/t Calciomercato)
Elseid Hysaj, 24, one among the host of players heading out of Naples at the end of the season, has been on the radar of Chelsea for some time now, with Maurizio Sarri having tried signing the full-back in the summer transfer window.
But Carlo Ancelotti kept hold of Hysaj in the summer and has used him in rotation with Kevin Malcuit at right-back. With the 24-year-old full-back now one of the leading names to be offloaded by Napoli, Sarri should reignite his interest in him this summer.
Chelsea should go for Elseid Hysaj
Chelsea have struggled at right-back this season. With Cesar Azpilicueta showing signs of slowing down and Davide Zappacosta out of favour under Sarri, there are no real standouts within the squad that could replace our ageing skipper at right-back.
Thus, Sarri should look to add an experienced right-back to his ranks in the summer and Elseid Hysaj would fit the bill perfectly at Stamford Bridge.
So with his contract expiring next season, Chelsea must go all out for the Albanian as he could be available for a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign. Hysaj can play on either side of the defence and performed extremely well under the tutelage of Sarri in Naples.

But all this could happen if we are successful in our appeal against the transfer ban and Sarri does get a second season in west London.
