Chelsea keeping close eye on this 17-goal hitman for possible summer move

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri keeping a close eye on Luka Jovic?

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri hinted he’s keeping a close eye on Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic after the Blues qualified for the last four of the Europa League on Thursday.

Sarri’s side defeated Slavia Prague over the two legs in the quarter-finals and will now play Eintracht Frankfurt in the next round of the Europa League.

Frankfurt have enjoyed a really good campaign both in the Bundesliga and the Europa League and one man who has mightily impressed playing for the German outfit is Luka Jovic.

Jovic, 21, is enjoying a stunning season in the Bundesliga, having scored 17 goals in 27 matches so far. He has also netted eight goals in the Europa League and Frankfurt has secured his future, signing him from Benfica on a four-year contract.

The Serbian international has established himself as one of the best young centre-forwards, thus catching the attention of many clubs, including Barcelona, reports Football.London. Sarri seems to also have an interest in the 21-year-old, terming the Frankfurt hotshot as ‘wonderful Jovic’ in his post-match press conference on Thursday.

Is Sarri really interested in Jovic?

It remains to be seen if Sarri is truly interested in Jovic or not as we come close to the conclusion of the 2018/19 campaign.

Chelsea are still waiting to hear the verdict of the appeal of our impending transfer ban and if the ban stays on, the manager won’t be able to sign new players for the next two windows. But if our appeal is successful and the ban subsequently gets lifted, Sarri should definitely make an audacious offer for Jovic.

We desperately need a centre-forward next season and Jovic can be a really smart addition to our squad.
