Marca (h/t Mirror) claims that Chelsea are close to completing a deal for Gonzalo Higuain, and the signing will be confirmed soon.
The Argentine joined AC Milan on loan at the start of the season after a great spell with Juventus. The 31-year-old played under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, but has struggled to find his form for the Milan giants this season.
The report adds that the Argentine coming in could mean the end of Alvaro Morata at the Blues. Sarri is keen to reunite with his former striker, as per the report, and Higuain could be the answer to our goal scoring problems.
The Chelsea manager knows the player well from their time at Napoli, and it will be interesting to see how the Argentine fits into our style of play.
The Argentine is a poacher and has scored goals for almost every club he has played for. The only risk regarding this deal would be related to the player’s age.
At 31, the striker isn’t someone who can be part of the Chelsea side for several years, and his mobility will be a huge question mark in the more physical Premier League.
Several Chelsea fans reacted to this possible deal taking place, and not all of them were happy with the move.
Yea, let’s have two Moratta in Chelsea…. Just a fatter version with beards😒 #Higuain

Why are Chelsea fans so desperate for Higuain? I don’t even rate him that highly. Not a great link up guy, physically weak, and is slow. Not great in the air either. I don’t rate Icardi as WC but he’s better than Higuain. Cavani is the one they should be looking at. Nobody else

Hope this is true. Great signing.

Higuain will slot in immediately to the squad, he knows the style, no story.

soooo no Icardi then. Just a forward with less goals than Morata this season…

Noooo 😭

Higuain would be a good signing for the next six months while we try to get the main man aka Mauro Icardi. Higuain on a permanent deal is a big no no from me. A replacement for Fabregas is also very crucial in January. Huge 20 days upcoming for the club. #CFC

Imagine not wanting Higuain. I don’t care if he’s over 30 we need a striker badly and he’s the one who will finish chances we had tonight. #cfc

I would absolutely take Gonzalo Higuain right now. I know he’s in his 30s, but we desperately need a striker & he’s a good fit for the short term.
Genuinely hope we get it done. #CFC
