Chelsea assistant Gianfranco Zola spoke about the club’s interest in Callum Wilson in December (h/t Express). The Bournemouth forward has been great for the Cherries this season, having scored nine goals and assisted five in the Premier League this season.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Blues (h/t Express) and Paul Merson is certain Wilson will leave the Cherries after their signing of Dominic Solanke from Liverpool. The former Chelsea striker joined the Reds 18 months ago but wasn’t able to crack into the first-team regularly.
Merson was speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Express) and claimed he was certain Wilson was leaving:
“I would have to say 100 per cent. And I only say that because if he’s not going anywhere, Solanke’s going to Bournemouth not to play. You might as well stay at Liverpool and not play.
“He’s going to go to Bournemouth and play 15 minutes here and 10 minutes here.”
Chelsea have found goals hard to come by this season, with Alvaro Morata not really firing on all cylinders. Olivier Giroud seems a better fit for the side due to his link-up play, but the Frenchman doesn’t find the back of the net regularly.

Wilson would be a decent option for the side due to his Premier League experience. It will be interesting to see how much the Cherries demand for their striker as we desperately need another attacker in the side.
Now that we have signed Pulisic, signing a talented striker would go a long way in helping us achieve our targets in the future.
