Napoli are lining up a swap deal for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and will throw in Elseid Hysaj, according to Calciomercato (h/t Daily Star).
The Danish centre-back is out of favour under Maurizio Sarri and hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season.
Christensen is only 22 and started 23 Premier League games under Antonio Conte last season. However, Sarri prefers a pairing of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz in the heart of the defence.
The report adds that the right-back Hysaj is a favourite of Sarri’s and concludes by saying a swap deal makes sense for both parties.
Hysaj is only 24 and could be a great player to cover and replaced Cesar Azpilicueta in the near future. The Spaniard extended his contract at the Blues recently but letting go of Christensen is a tough call to make.
The Dane has the potential to get even better in the years to come and it is a bit of a surprise why he doesn’t play more often in the Premier League.
We should try to sign Hysaj and sending Christensen on loan until the end of the season would be the best option for all parties involved.
The Napoli defender has started 12 Serie A games so far but only has one start in the Champions League this season.
