Alvaro Morata to start against Vidi? – Predicted Chelsea line-up for Europa League clash

Cesc Fabregas of Chelsea scores against Derby County

Chelsea round off their Europa League group stage with a trip to Vidi. The Blues top their group with five wins from five and have conceded just one goal in the process.

Maurizio Sarri has used the Europa League to rotate his squad around and give time to some of the squad members in the team.

The Blues come off a hugely impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend, but things will change with regards to our starting XI on Thursday.

Vidi have a chance of making it into the knockout stages of the competition and have to beat us while Bate Borisov are on the same points as our opponents after five games.

The Blues face a tricky tie against Brighton & Hove Albion after the Europa League game, and here is our predicted line-up for Sarri’s side.

Predicted Chelsea XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Willy Caballero (GK)

Kepa Arrizabalaga could be rested for the Brighton game and we should see Caballero in his place.

David Zappacosta (RB)

As usual, Zappacosta should get the Europa League game in place of Cesar Azpilicueta.

Gary Cahill (CB)

Cahill hasn’t played much for us under Sarri but we can count on him returning for the Europa League tie.

Andreas Christensen (CB)

The same goes for Christensen as the Dane looks for regular minutes under the Italian manager.

Emerson Palmieri (LB)

The left-back should get a start ahead of Marcos Alonso, and he has done a decent job in Europe’s second club competition.

Cesc Fabregas (CM)

Mateo Kovacic is a doubt for this tie and we should see changes in the midfield with Fabregas getting the nod.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek Chelsea

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (CM)

Loftus-Cheek has a hat-trick to his name in this competition and should return to the starting line-up for Chelsea on Thursday.

Ross Barkley (CM)

Barkley just cannot usurp Kovacic from the midfield in the Premier League and we should see the Englishman start for Chelsea against Vidi.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi (LW)

The youngster has been impressive in the few Europa League outings he has gotten under his belt and should return to the side to face Vidi.

Alvaro Morata (ST)

It was a sad indictment that Eden Hazard was played as a striker against Chelsea, and we should see Morata start in Hungary as he looks to find his scoring shoes.

Pedro (RW)

Sarri could play Pedro at the start of the game as the Spaniard hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks.
