Real Madrid could sign Chelsea star even if Jose Mourinho takes over at the Bernabeu

Calcioland podcast host Alex Goldberg reckons that Real Madrid could still sign Eden Hazard even if they bring Jose Mourinho back to the Spanish capital.

The Portuguese manager was sacked by Manchester United after a run of poor results, and Madrid have struggled this season too.

The Spanish giants have appointed Santiago Solari as their manager, however, the Express claims that Real Madrid are 11/4 favourites to be his next destination.

Mourinho was a part of the Real side that broke Barcelona’s dominance in the La Liga a few years ago, and even though the manager had a bit of an issue with Hazard during his time at Chelsea, Goldberg is sure it was not much of a problem (h/t Express):

“Honestly no [I don’t think Mourinho moving to Real Madrid would keep Eden Hazard at Chelsea], because Hazard did say he’d like to work with Mourinho again.

“That ended badly with Mourinho and Hazard and really the rest of the Chelsea group.”

Goldberg added that Mourinho has always had a problem with a player in the third year, with Paul Pogba being the one this time around.

However, the podcast host claimed there was respect between the Chelsea attacker and Mourinho, and a move could not be ruled out.

“But there was kind of a mutual respect between Hazard and Mourinho once Mourinho left. Hazard even talked about sending him a text message and wishing him well and I think vice-versa.

“So, honestly, if Mourinho went to Real Madrid I don’t think that would end it.”

The 27-year-old hasn’t confirmed his future at Chelsea and it will be interesting to see what happens to the attacker in the summer.
