30-year-old Serie A superstar awaiting Chelsea contact

AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain is hoping that Chelsea come calling for the Argentine, according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato).

The 30-year-old joined the Milan side from Juventus on a two-year loan with Leonardo Bonucci returning to the Turin club, and Mattia Caldara also joining Milan.

Higuain played under Maurizio Sarri during their time in Napoli and the report claims the Blues are still keeping an eye on the striker.

Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata haven’t found the back of the net regularly and Morata had another poor outing in our 3-1 humbling by Tottenham.

Higuain has always been amongst the goals during his time in Italy and already has seven from 13 matches for his new side.

The report adds that Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso doesn’t want Higuain to leave the club.

Chelsea need a centre-forward who can work the channels and score goals too. Giroud does a good job linking up with our wingers but doesn’t score enough while Morata has been a frustrating figure up front.

The Argentine striker might not be a young striker but his experience is something Sarri could use well. It will be interesting to see if Juventus are willing to conduct business with us, and also how much the striker might cost.

Chelsea found out that they have a lot of work to do under Sarri after the Tottenham game, and maybe getting a quality striker is a step in the right direction.
