Chelsea have entered the race to sign Atletico Mineiro right-back Emerson, according to O Tempo (h/t Sun). The report claims that the defender is one of the hottest properties in Brazil and Premier League clubs are taking a close look at him.
Arsenal are tracking the Brazilian, and the London rivals could bid £8million for the 19-year-old. (Sun)
Atletico Mineiro are facing financial problems, as per the report, and could sell their star. Scouts from the top-flight English clubs were present in their 1-1 draw against Palmeiras.
Chelsea have a history of signing Brazilians and have the likes of David Luiz, Emerson Palmieri and Willian at the club. Another Samba man Kenedy is out on loan at Newcastle United.
Emerson has 20 appearances for Atletico this season and has a goal to his name. The 19-year-old would provide decent cover for the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and could become our future right-back if his development continues in the right direction.
The Blues have Davide Zappacosta as their cover for Azpilicueta, but we need to add some young blood in the team and Emerson could be the player to keep an eye on.
