“In the hands of Sarri, he could make 40 goals” – Napoli president claims this player would be incredible under Chelsea manager

Mauro Icardi

Football.london reports that Chelsea are being linked with Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi once again. The Blues were linked with a summer move for the Argentine and he is enjoying another fine season this time too.

Icardi has 10 goals and two assists for the Serie A giants this term after scoring 29 times in 36 games last season.

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, tried to sign Icardi during his time at Napoli and Football.london reports that the Naples outfit wanted to get the Argentine on their books.

Aurelio de Laurentiis, the Napoli president, was quoted by Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football.london) as saying:

“I offered 55-60 million, I do not remember. I met his wife, very nice. We spent an afternoon together, we negotiated a potential contract.

“Icardi is a champion, he could become a new Ronaldo, in the hands of Sarri he could make 40 goals.”

Alvaro Morata Chelsea

Chelsea’s strikers haven’t been banging goals in for fun this season. Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have been rotated by Sarri but neither has looked convincing for the Blues.

Icardi would be an incredible signing if we could get him but he will not come on the cheap and that’s a certainty.

Chelsea spent big to sign Jorginho and Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer. Should we sign Icardi in the winter window, there could be some silverware coming to Stamford Bridge before the end of the campaign.
