Chelsea yet to receive £15m from former Romanian striker

Chelsea are still seeking £15m from former striker Adrian Mutu, as reported by Sky Sports. The striker lost another battle, this time at the European Court of Human Rights.

The Romanian had joined the Blues from Parma but his contract was terminated after cocaine use in 2004.

The report adds the striker was banned for seven months by FIFA before being fired by the club. A FIFA tribunal decided the fee Mutu owes the Blues but he has been fighting that decision since.

A Chelsea spokesperson claimed that the Blues will continue trying to recoup the amount owed:

“We are exercising our legal remedies to recover the amounts owed to us and we will continue to do so.”

The latest case by our former striker was against the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) where he claimed he did not get a fair hearing. The European Court of Human Rights did not agree with the striker and it will be interesting to see what his next step will be.

The former striker was a talented player but was unable to reach his potential. The Romanian scored just 10 times for us in his debut season and had stints at Juventus, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Cessna, amongst a number of other clubs.
