Chelsea are interested in the signature of Lorenzo Insigne and would fight against Liverpool for the swoop of the Italian attacker, according to Rai Sport (h/t Metro).
Maurizio Sarri worked with Insigne during his spell at Napoli. The report claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to add more attacking power to Liverpool. The 27-year-old Italian has four years left on his current deal.
He is in great form this season and has seven goals and an assist to his name in all competitions. Insigne can play as a winger or a forward, and has been one of the best performers in the Serie A in recent seasons. He scored 14 times last season and helped Napoli finish second in the league.
It will be difficult for the player to leave the club midway through the season and any team looking to sign him would have to spend a considerable amount, according to the report.
Insigne can only get better in the coming years. Working again under Sarri would be an ideal situation. The Italian on one wing with Eden Hazard on the other could make Chelsea the best attacking team in England.
